Physical Fitness
“One’s ability to execute daily activities with optimal performance, endurance, and strength with the management of disease, fatigue, and stress and reduce sedentary behavior.”
I just saw the previous quote online, and every time I hear the word "fit" I think about professional athletes and how "healthy" they must be. These people have very well defined beautiful, sculpted bodies, their own Bentleys and Ferraris in my opinion, (Meaning you really take care of those types of cars)However, sometimes we have heard and known many people that engage in very “unhealthy” behavior, on what they called their “cheating” day, which they referred at a day during the week, where they do not follow their fitness regime. (Although we typically view athletes as fit and healthy, they often are not and let me tell you why I know this)
I met this guy at one of my old jobs, a few years back. We were just co-workers, and he was always talking about food. He trained very hard and had the big muscles to show for, and because he worked so much (At home and at our job’s gym) He was always hungry.
He told me that on weekends he drank a lot of alcohol and ate very unhealthily (His own words) and he described how he ate 5 big hamburgers in just one seat, and a lot of beer to go with it. He also loved sweets and his favorites ones were doughnuts and cakes. He told me to compensate for his “cheat” day, he had to work extra during the week.
The reason he spoke to me is because he saw me always eating healthy, home-made meals and he was wondering if I also trained, because, at the time, I was very slim but with a lot of muscles I was able to develop just with free weights and by very healthy eating.
I was eating small meals during the day, about 6 of them, containing a lot of green salads, vegetables, and lean protein that consisted of a lot of fish, poultry and eggs. I was also walking a lot indoors on the treadmill. (This was during the Winter)
He told me he stayed up very late on weekends and didn’t sleep enough, even when he had to work the next day and specially because he was lifting heavy weight and he needed to rest, at the time, I though he was crazy to have that type of lifestyle.
Well, they changed this guy’s schedule, so I didn’t see him anymore and I never had any contact with him either, however, I always remember him, because when he entered the room, everybody stared at him. He looked very “fit” and very healthy, however, he more than anybody else, knew the truth.
Sometimes you see people that just look good and not necessarily “fit” and yet, they may be very healthy, and they may practice very healthy habits, and that is what counts. You may also compare your body that that of others and tell yourself you are not "fit" even though, you don't follow a very rigorous exercise routine, you just live a healthy lifestyle, where you do not do any of the things this guy did on his "cheating" days.
In 2020 I was able to get extremely fit, because I joined a gym and I had a personal trainer for about 90 days, which really pushed and trained me about exercise and I took all that knowledge with me, after the 90 days, and implemented a routine and eating exercise, on my own, after I stopped going to the gym.
At that point my nutrition and what worked for me was very clear to me, so I had to learn what exercises, and what exercise routine will work better for me, and I did everything where I was very active during the day and where I tried everything that I could do and everything that I liked, including dancing.
And my body responded fast and within a few months, my body became very fit and the fitter I became, the more my body responded to certain exercises and that allowed me to become even more fit. At first it was a bit discouraged because as I was following the eating instructions,
I noticed my body was getting "bulkier" (A mix of fat and muscles) that I notice immediately and I didn't liked it, however, the more muscle I was building and the more protein and green vegetables I was consuming, the more weight I was losing and then my body started to toned up.
I was very slim, but I didn’t have a lot of saggy skin on my body, and I could see my muscle definition very well. I had to downsize and mend all my clothes because they got too small.
And I was able to enjoy that for a few years until I had 2 surgeries within the last 3 years and the last one as recent as last December, as and I know that to recuperate faster from a surgery you need to take it easy and consume more protein to heal faster, and I gained some extra lbs. in the process.
However, because I’ve been a runner since I was a teenager, I lose weight very fast and just a few days ago I started my running/jogging combination routine and free weights and other exercise routines I create for me specifically, including a lot of high impact dancing, and so far, I have started to lose weight and toned my body.
By the Summer I will look different than I do now, and better fit than I did last time. I just did cartwheels for the very first time in about 30 years and I was pleasantly surprised, I can still do them without falling on the ground and just landing on my fit and straight up. (I need to work more on flexibility, however, the more I do squats, the more those muscles develop, and I am working on it)
I also had to start specific exercise for my "bat" arms, which are really firming up the skin there. (That, along with my but and my middle legs and core, really need to be toned) And it is amazing that last time I went through this process, my but listed on its own and I can see it on the before and after photos I took)
I hope that you take the time to take care of your Ferrari or Bentley or Lamborghini or whatever fancy car you are. (Even those need maintenance and even those will only last for so long, however, with the proper care and dedication, any "machine" can perform at its maximum capacity, for many years to come)

Remember, you are your own driver, and you have control of the steering wheel. You can take your fancy car for many amazing rides that you will enjoy and you have the capability of building a muscle burning machine, from the ground up and you don't need a lot of money or special equipment to do that.
Use your body resistance. Be consistance, be patient and excersie your will power. Use your dedication and focus and you will create amazing results and amazing master pieces in all areas of your life.
You can go as fast or as slow as you want, and I will say, take it easy so you don’t damage your precious luxury machine, and as you make progress in that highway life of yours, little by little you can show off and let others admire that super fancy, powerful machine of yours with all this amazing shape and curves and shine.
I am going know to work on my Bentley, or maybe I should upgrade it to a Ferrari…Mmmm…Great thoughts!! Great thoughts!!
